Georgians for the Arts Campaign

Welcome to Georgians for the Arts

Georgians for the Arts

Purpose: Georgians for the Arts was launched as an opportunity for all citizens who support the arts to unite, meet, network, convene and work together. The Georgians for the Arts Campaign is open to everyone as a statewide arts advocacy movement in support of the arts, arts education and funding for the arts and arts education. Join the Campaign as one of the many Georgians for the Arts who want Georgia to invest in the arts and in arts education.

Goals: Georgians for the Arts Campaign’s primary goal is to save the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) which will protect almost one-half of the annual budget of the Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA), and it will protect SouthArts, the regional NEA Partner headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. The second goal is to increase Georgia’s state arts support in the annual budget for the arts and arts education. Investment in the arts and in arts education will change the current status of Georgia being ranked 50th in the United States by the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies (NASAA).

History: ArtsGeorgia originated the concept of Georgians for the Arts and it grew from our Georgians for the Arts Weekâ„¢, the Georgians for the Arts Monthâ„¢, and finally the launch of the new Georgians for the Artsâ„¢ Campaign in the spring of 2015. The service marks were adopted and first published in February, 2017. The service marks are protected as common law trademarks which protect the rights of those who invest, create, develop, publish and first use them. Both service marks are now registered under Georgia law. The service marks were included by ArtsGeorgia, Inc. in the original ownership of and creation of the Georgians for the Arts website (2015-16) and the Georgians for the Arts Facebook page (May, 2018.).
